Imagine this…

every student in every school with an opportunity to explore prayer for themselves.
This is happening across the nation through Prayer Spaces in Schools and you could help bring it to a school near you.

Why prayer spaces?

Children and young people are curious about spiritual things; beliefs, the world we live in and the big questions about life, death and what lies beyond.

Schools are expected to be places where spiritual life is nurtured and surveys show that over half of under 18s have tried praying.

So a prayer space in school makes a massive contribution to learners’ spiritual wellbeing and gives them a chance to explore prayer from a Christian perspective in a way that is accessible to everyone, whatever they believe.

‘I felt I could talk to God with no interruption or judgement.’

How they work

A prayer space consists of one or more simple activities that invite the pupil to explore prayer by giving them a theme to consider, like thankfulness, being sorry, letting go of worries or asking a big question; then an opportunity to reflect and a way to respond.
For many young people this will be the first time they’ve explored prayer in a way that’s relevant, fun, creative and meaningful.

‘Thank you for this prayer space. It has made me feel better about my life’

Making it happen

Prayer spaces work best when they’re run by Christians who have an ongoing relationship with their local school.

Resourcing and running the prayer space is a generous way of serving and supporting the school that can make a huge difference to the lives of pupils, and sometimes staff too.

We’ve got prayer resources, how-to guides, training, and a whole community ready to help you to make it happen.
