Gratitude is attentive. Gratitude is about becoming aware of goodness around us and acknowledging it. This activity encourages pupils to pause and think for a moment about the things, the people and the experiences that they are thankful for and to write these onto a ribbon, which can then be waved or draped around the room.
There are other prayer activities in our library which also focus on gratitude and thankfulness. This one is especially suitable for younger children who might like to swirl their ribbon and dance their ‘thank you’ prayers. If this is possible, you might like to have some music in the background.
“The root of joy is gratefulness… it is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.” Brother David Steindl-Rast
“Give thanks in all circumstances…” Paul, 1 Thessalonians 5v18
