Some worry is good, because it makes us take precautions in risky situations. Some stress is good because it can motivate us to get things done. But worry and stress can be bad for us too, because it makes problems bigger than they really are. Pupils worry and stress about all kinds of things, real and imagined, at home and at school.
This activity encourages pupils to let go of what is worrying or stressing them.
There are other prayer activities in our library which also focus on worry and anxiety. When you are hosting this prayer activity, you might want to say that worrying or stressing less doesn’t mean our problems disappear but sometimes it makes them easier to deal with. Sometimes it can also be good to talk to someone.
“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Jesus, Matthew 6v34
“Cast all your anxiety on him (God) because he cares for you.” Peter, 1 Peter 5v7
This prayer activity was created by Andy Jones from Raise Kids Work in Norfolk.
