The newspapers are often full of bad news… wars and natural disasters, financial crises and serious crimes. It is easy to become numb to the news, to become anaesthetised to the awful things happening in our world. This activity encourages pupils to think about what they can see and read in the news, and to respond to it. To pray is to believe that things can change.
“I’m an atheist, but if you’re there God, please do something about Japan after that tsunami.”
It is important that you choose appropriate newspapers for this prayer activity. It is OK to use a selection of newspapers (not just the ‘broadsheets’), but check through them first to remove any inappropraite images, articles or advertisements.
