Prayer Activity

Narnia: Broken World

This is part of an activity series based on C.S.Lewis’ Narnia tales. When the White Witch realised that Edmund’s brother, Peter, and his two sisters, Susan and Lucy, had also come to Narnia, she was afraid.

She persuaded Edmund to betray the others, and he foolishly agreed. Because of his foolish betrayal, she claimed that his life belonged to her – that she had the right to kill him.

Aslan, the good lion, offered to take Edmund’s place. He lay on the stone table and allowed the White Witch to kill him instead. And when Aslan died, the table broke in two.

When we do or say bad things, or when bad things happen around us, we can feel broken inside. When bad things happen around the world, it can feel like the world is broken too.

This activity asks pupils what they think is broken in the world, e.g. famine, sickness, war. The pupils can write or draw their hopes or prayers about what needs fixing onto the sheet on the stone table.

This activity was created by one of the BeSpace teams based in Abingdon.
