Prayer Activity

Empty Plate

Every day, all over the world, people go hungry. There are people in every nation who find it hard to feed themselves and their families.

In the UK, for example, the Trussell Trust supports hundreds of local Food Banks that are run by churches and community groups – they say that the number of families and individuals who are living in poverty and struggling to feed their families is at a record high.

This prayer activity encourages pupils to think about food. At first, pupils are invited to stick or draw pictures of their favourite foods. But then, they are invited to read or think about those in our nation, and around the world, who won’t eat much today – some will eat very simple, basic foods, and some will eat nothing at all. The pupils are invited to respond by writing or drawing a hope or a wish or a prayer onto their paper plate.
