‘Peace Making’ is part of the Justice Series, developed in partnership with Christian Aid.
This activity is about making peace in places where there has been conflict. Sporting events can bring ‘opposing’ teams together, to share in a common game, a common cause.
Christian Aid partners with organisations around the world who are helping communities deal with the effects of conflict. Sport can sometimes play a part in making peace again.
This activity invites pupils to read the case studies and think about people who live in places where there has been conflict and war. How might they feel? How might it affect their relationships? If they want to, the pupils can draw or write their thoughts or prayers for peace onto a football-shape and put it into the net/goal (or they can write on the footballs).
Follow-up lesson plans based around this theme are available on the Christian Aid website.
