According to report published in 2006 by UNICEF there are at least 100 million street children in the world. In Nairobi, Kenya, alone, reports have suggested that there are at least 40,000 street children.
There are many people throughout the world that are not as fortunate as we are, people who do not have homes, who are not in touch with their families and who do not even have a regular supply of food and water.
This activity encourages pupils to think about street children that are of a similar age to themselves and to think about how it would feel if they did not have a home, but rather just a cardboard box to live in.
This activity works best when the cardboard box(es) used are big enough for the pupils to get inside of. This ensures that the activity remains exciting for the pupils as they sit inside, imagining what it would be like. It also means that there will be more room for them to draw or write down their prayers.
