This activity invites pupils to pause and be still for a few moments. It works best as a guided narration on an MP3 player, but if there is enough space (and quiet) it can work just as well in a corner of a classroom.
Pupils are invited to consider what’s on their minds in that moment… the people, relationships, expectations, pressures, worries. “Worry,” begins the Swedish proverb, “gives small things a big shadow.”
Pupils are invited to shake the glitter-filled Calm Jar in front of them, and then watch and wait while the glitter settles.
